Early studies suggest that artificial sweeteners maintain plasma glucose and peak insulin concentrations without affecting the gut microbiota. Objective Although COVID-19 is primarily a respiratory illness, there is mounting evidence suggesting that the GI tract is involved in this disease. We investigated whether the gut microbiome is linked to disease severity in patients with COVID-19, and whether perturbations in microbiome composition, if any, resolve with clearance of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Methods In this two-hospital cohort The gut microbiota participates in the host's nutrient metabolism , responding to environmental factors and affecting the host's metabolic and immune activities . Gut microbiota genes outnumber human genes by at least two orders of magnitude, and these gene products deeply affect the host's metabolism .
RNA-seq analysis was performed to determine effects of bacterial treatment in the brain. Antidepressants reduced richness and increased beta diversity of gut bacteria, compared to controls. At the genus level, antidepressants reduced abundances of Ruminococcus, Adlercreutzia, and an unclassified Alphaproteobacteria. Adlercreutzia was positively correlated with BMI (rho = 0.35, p = 0.03), serum adipsin (rho = 0.33, p = 0.047), and serum leptin (rho = 0.38, p = 0.02). Conclusions: Our findings suggest that back pain is associated with altered gut microbiota composition, possibly through increased inflammation.

In humans, bacteria responsible for this transformation were later identified as Adlercreutzia. 10 Jan 2020 Key words: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus; Gut Microbiota; Environmental Factors Adlercreutzia spp.

This community of microbiota protect the host against pathogenic microbes, stimulate and modulate the host immune system, produce essential metabolites, and nourish gastrointestinal cells [ 36 ]. CRC-associated microbiota, recent studies have suggested the feasibility of using a combination of several bacteria (or micro-biota signature) in the faecal microbiota of individuals with CRC as a marker for detecting the disease.10–12 To address the confounding variables associated with CRC microbiota studies, we conducted a prospective gut microbiota.7 We then intranasally challenged them with S. pneumoniae (106 colony forming units (CFU); figure 1A). Microbiota-depleted mice had an accelerated mortality rate fol-lowing S. pneumoniae infection (figure 1B). Supporting this finding, gut microbiota-depleted mice had increased bacterial The gut microbiota refers to the microorganisms (approximately 100 trillion of them) that colonize the gastrointestinal tract . Five phyla representing ∼160 species can be detected in the large intestine alone ( 5 ).
